When you spend seven days a week in Seoul, it’s easy to miss the clear mountain air and blue sea. We’ve put together a list of one-night and two-day trips that you can take anytime. They’re perfect for a quick getaway during the Lunar New Year holidays.
1. Gangneung
Gangneung, which can be reached in 1 hour and 30 minutes by KTX, has long been a favorite destination for one-night and two-day trips regardless of the season. Go to the nearby cafe streets such as Anmok Beach and have a coffee while enjoying the sea view. You can also take a swim in the infinity pools of hotels such as Gyeongpodae St. John’s, where you can enjoy the cool sea breeze, which is also recommended for a vacation.
2. Pyeongchang
Pyeongchang is a city that is more often visited during the snowy season. It offers a variety of gourmet foods such as buckwheat and trout, as well as winter festivals. There are alsoseveral ski resortssuch as Yongpyong and Phoenix in the vicinity of Pyeongchang, making it a paradise for winter leisurelovers.
Jeonggangwon is also home to the Jeonggangwon Traditional Korean Food Culture Experience Center, where you can stay overnight in a hanok warmed by a fireplace and enjoy delicious breakfast and dinner prepared by the owner.
3. Gapyeong
Gapyeong, a nearby destination accessible by Gyeongchun Line from Seoul, is a great place for a quick one or two-day trip to enjoy the clear river and mountain scenery along the Bukhang River.

4. Ganghwa-do

5. Busan
Busan is a foodie destination. Just a three-hour KTX or STR ride away, you can enjoy seafood, specialty dishes, and the specialty of the Busan sea. You can easily find ocean view cafes all along the coast, including Gwangalli and Songjeong.
