“I feel like my glasses aren’t moving well.” “Are your glasses deflated?”
It may sound odd at first glance, but there is an artist who makes you understand right away with just one photo. That artwork comes from the globally-renowned miniature artist Tatsuya Tanaka. With a total number of visitors worldwide of 2.1 million and a fandom of over 3.8 million followers on social media, he will unveil his new exhibition <MINIATURE LIFE · MITATE MIND> for the first time in the world in Seoul.
Tatsuya Tanaka is a miniature artist who minimizes embellishment and uses everyday objects as they are. Instead, he uses his imagination to come up with witty pieces, turning glasses into bicycles and hangers into waves perfect for surfing.
There is one iron rule in his work, and that is to follow the Japanese word ‘mitate’, which means to look at familiar objects in a new way. The world of his work will be showcased in more depth at MINIATURE LIFE · MITATE MIND, which will be unveiled for the first time in the world in Seoul. A total of 200 pieces will be featured at the exhibition, including miniature miniatures, photographs, videos, and large-scale works. You’ll also be able to see the behind-the-scenes story of the work, and even a video showing the production process.
The exhibition opens March 2 at MPX Gallery. Tickets are on sale now, head to the website to get yours.
