Vienna 1900, Dreaming Artists
Vienna 1900, Dreaming Artists – From Gustav Klimt to Egon Schiele, opened late last year and is proving to be a hit. The exhibition showcases the collection of the Austrian Leopold Museum and features works by some of Vienna’s most iconic painters, including Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele. Tickets are sold by the hour and often sell out, so it’s best to book in advance.

Van Gogh, the Immortal Painter
The exhibition ‘Van Gogh, the Immortal Painter’ is also in full swing, featuring authentic Van Gogh paintings. It’s organized by the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterloo, two of the largest collections of Van Gogh’s work, and includes works such as The Good Samaritan.

An Icon of the Times: Arnold Newman and the Magazine
Arnold Newman, whose groundbreaking portraits are often referred to as ‘environmental portraits,’ is now on view at Samcheongdong with the exhibition ‘Icons of the Age: Arnold Newman and Magazines, 1938-2000’. The exhibition features Newman’s early experimental work, as well as images of icons of the era he photographed, from Picasso to Warhol to Kennedy.

Elm Green & Dragset: Space
Through a variety of media including sculpture, installation, and performance, these two artists offer a fresh perspective on entrenched social and political structures. Currently on view at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, the Nordic artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset will be exhibiting in Seoul. ‘Elmgreen & Dragset: Space’ will be held at the Amorepacific Museum of Art, Sinsan.

Koo Jung-ah: Odorama City
The 30th anniversary representative of the Korean Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale was Koo Jung-ah. ‘Koo Jung-ah: Odorama City’ will return to Korea at the Hyehwa Arko Museum. Koo, who enjoys using smell and sight as a synaesthetic medium, has created more than 600 scent memories and 17 scents in her exhibition.

Special exhibition on the reopening of the Hwan Ki Art Museum
Since its opening in 1992, the Hwan Ki Museum of Art has been home to the artistic soul of Korean art master Kim Hwan Ki. The museum reopened in December after a 10-month renovation period. The reopening special exhibition, “Eternal Things: Things that existed for themselves and not for anyone else’ offers a glimpse into Kim’s artistic journey throughout his life, from his early works to his highly abstract works made of dots, lines, and cotton.

Toulouse-Lautrec: Stars of Montmartre
The 160th anniversary of the birth of Toulouse-Lautrec, the French master of Art Nouveau poster art, is being celebrated with the exhibition Toulouse-Lautrec: Star of Montmartre. The exhibition features more than 150 works by 13 of Lautrec’s contemporaries.
