It’s getting hot, but luckily the weather is still nice. The sun is warm during the day and the cool breeze in the evening makes it hard to stay inside. We’ve rounded up some of the best nightlife spots to visit on days when you just want to throw on a cardigan and get some air.
1. Manrijae
Near Exit 15 of Seoul Station, you’ll find Manrijae-ro on the Seoul Road. Pubs and cafes line the low-traffic road. This European-inspired neighborhood is a great place to relax with a glass of wine or beer. You can also sit outside on a bay window or terrace and enjoy the nighttime atmosphere. There are a variety of restaurants along the Great Wall, but we recommend MANRI199 for its basil garlic tomato pizza and craft beer pairings, or Great Wall Bistro, where everything from gnocchi to pasta is reminiscent of Paris, France.
2. Sindang-dong Seoul Central Market
At the beginning of Hipdang-dong is Seoul Jungang Market. This market is more authentic at night than during the day. The atmosphere is similar to a night market in Bangkok or other places in Southeast Asia. The shops in the market hold night markets and there are tables and benches in the center of the market street for customers to enjoy. There are also restrooms in the center of the market for your convenience.
You can enjoy a wide variety of food at the market, from dried fish snacks such as Okkyungine Dried Fish, Golden Yukjeon, Sul Sul 317, Pho 25, and Lacaye to Vietnamese food and tacos. If you want to enjoy a variety of snacks, order alcoholic beverages from Sulsul 317 and take away snacks from the surrounding stores. This will complete a special course that can only be found in Sindang-dong.
3. Expressway Terminal Rooftop
If you go to the rooftop of Banpo Express Terminal, you’ll find a meat restaurant. There are poseokjeong and hexagonal meat side by side. These are special nighttime restaurants where you can enjoy the cool sky and rooftop breeze during the day and the night view of Namsan Tower and Banpo at night.
4. Pocha Street
We can’t forget the original night market, Pocha Street. The area around Jonggak and Jongno 3-ga stations is crowded at this time of year. Gangbyeon Station and Euljiro also used to have a large Pocha Street, but it has been greatly scaled down since this year. There are also food stalls in Chandong and Yeongdeungpo. If you’re looking for the original nightlife experience, you can also check out the rest of Seoul.
