I gathered with friends for the first time in a while in Gangnam, a sacred place for meetings. However, it is a shame to stay inside the building in good weather, so we’ve gathered together outdoor Gangnam cafes for days when the weather is perfect.
1. Alver Gangnam
Close to Exit 6 of Shin-Nonhyeon Station, Alver is a café with a spacious interior and a terrace that overlooks the large trees in the garden. Take Exit 11 from Gangnam Station and enjoy the surrounding restaurants, selfie booths, and other places to hang out with friends and grab a coffee.
You can enjoy the “four seasons of Alver” through the garden’s trees, which are full of lush green foliage in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and white snow on the branches in winter. Occasionally, pop-up stores appear here, which is always fun.
Open seven days a week from 10am to 11pm, they also rent out space, so it’s best to check their official Instagram (@alver_coffee) to see if they’re open before you visit.
2. Cafe Jeongwol
Unique amongst these Gangnam cafes, Cafe Jeongwol is a converted house, with an outdoor space that utilizes the courtyard terrace and rooftop. This café is recommended for those who like to relax in the open. Since it’s a converted house, there’s also a private area inside.
Matcha Einspenner and elderflower-ade are their signature drinks. The Zen-style interiors and bamboo grove make Cafe Jeongwol a great place to meet up with friends or just to get some fresh air by yourself!
3. The Flying Pan Red
The Flying Pan Red, a brunch café located in GT Tower at Gangnam Station, serves delicious brunch, coffee, and more, no matter what time of day it is.
Although it is underground, the plaza-like structure allows you to enjoy the cool open-ceiling atmosphere that’s unique to an outdoor café surrounded by office buildings.
4. La Brick Seoul
La Brick Seoul, a neutral-toned new café, serves coffee, wine, and brunch items.
The exotic exterior of the café invites you in, and you’ll be greeted by a spacious courtyard on the ground floor and a variety of tables. Even if you visit in a large group, you can all visit without hassle. We highly recommend La Brick for an outdoor café near Gangnam Station!
5. City Gallery Café
City Gallery Cafe near Exit 4 of Gangnam Station is a café with a yellow terrace by day, but transforms into a pub with wine and beer by night. It’s one of the Gangnam cafes popular with beer lovers as you can enjoy unlimited refills of Cass draft beer at the low price of 12,900 won. There is a cherry blossom tree right in front of the store, so it’s great to sit on the terrace and feel the four seasons.
6. Moss Garden
Located in Nonhyeon-dong, Moss Garden is a small garden in the centre of the city. There’s a special dining room with an impressive floor-to-ceiling window. This is the glass room of the restaurant Good Samaritan Recipes, where you can spend a unique time among plants and sunlight coming through the windows.
In the same building, you can also check out the lifestyle shop Gardens Marketplace for some unique goods.
