Every week, there is a classical concert that takes place simultaneously in thousands of cities around the world. These are Candlelight Concerts. Candlelight Concerts are performed in thousands of cities in iconic spaces in each city. These concerts feature talented musicians performing classical music in a variety of genres, from traditional classical to pop.
Candlelight Concerts’ programs are reimagined in a candlelit way. Famous pieces are arranged for string quartet or orchestra. The soft flickering of candlelight and the special classical performance of Candlelight Concerts attracts many repeat audiences.
As its popularity grows, Candlelight is leading the popularization of classical music by presenting various programs.
In addition to performing authentic classical masterpieces such as Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Mozart’s Requiem, Candlelight also covers the music of film music masters such as Joe Hisaishi, Hans Zimmer, and Ennio Morricone. The orchestra also performs hits by some of the most popular pop artists of our time, such as BTS, Queen, and Taylor Swift tribute programs.
Candlelight concerts are held in some of Seoul’s most iconic spaces. The venues are chosen for their historical and design significance and sensitivity to the experience.
We have performed Bach’s St. Matthew Passion in the Franciscan Education Hall so that it could be heard in a space of faith, and the JCC Art Center, Tadao Ando’s first design in Seoul, was chosen as a venue for the Candlelight Concert. Candlelight concerts are also held at other venues around Seoul, including Platform L Contemporary Art Center and Gangdong Art Center.
“The explanations in between helped me appreciate the music,” “It was a day filled with melodies and stars that filled the space,” and “I had a great time watching it with my mother.”
As Candlelight began by popularizing classical music, the concerts are designed to be accessible, easy, and enjoyable for everyone. Candlelight concerts are open to anyone who loves music.
From the entrance, to the seats, to the stage, the candles are lined up one by one, and before you know it, it’s time for the performers to take the stage. If you’re looking to add a special event to your after-work evening routine, check out a candlelight concert.
