March is the time to lighten up your outfit and lighten your heart, starting with the holidays. Even if it’s still cold, the flowers will melt your heart when they start to bloom. Here are some of the best places to go in March and the best ways to enjoy it.
1. Cherry Blossom, Plum Blossom, Sansuyu, and other flower festivals
March, the beginning of spring, is the time when spring flowers bloom across the country, and many flower festivals are held in various places, not just in Seoul. The most well-known spring flower festival in Seoul is the cherry blossom festival held on Yoonjung-ro in Yeouido, and although the full-scale Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival starts in April, April is the peak cherry blossom season, and you can see cherry blossoms blooming like popcorn as early as March, so if you want to avoid the crowds, you can visit the festival in mid-March.
2. Savor seasonal foods
March is the month when the world wakes up from its winter hibernation and turns green. This is also the time to try the most delicious seasonal foods. From cucumber to mugwort, sedum, and dulup are in season in March, and seafood includes jjukkumi and komak.
We recommend Gangneung Ummjinekko Makjip for small fish. Originally located in Gangneung, Ummjinekkojip has branches in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The representative menus are kkomak moojim and kkomak bibimbap, which are deliciously mixed with kkomak and not too spicy chili.
Strawberries are also in season from January to May, so be sure to eat them diligently. For more information on strawberry buffets where you can enjoy a variety of strawberry desserts, check out 4 Strawberry Buffets in Seoul.
3. Pottery Class
After a long winter, it’s easy to get tired after a long day. A workshop is a great place to lighten up and prepare for the new season. Ceramic design studio Craft Practice Seongsu offers a one-day pottery class.
There is a drawing pottery one-day class where you can draw on a plate with colorful clay like paint, and a heart-colored clay plate one-day class where you can make a heart-shaped plate.
If you don’t have any dexterity and want to have your own unique vessel that looks as special as it feels , book a class here.

5. Mimesis Art Museum
If you’re planning a springtime drive around the neighborhood, how about Paju? The Mimesis Art Museum in the Paju Publishing Complex boasts beautiful architecture with curves and natural interventions, making it even more refreshing in spring. It is currently holding its first exhibition of 2025, “O’Object,” a painterly experiment with everyday objects, until March 30 (Sun).

6. Han River View Cafe
The slowly rising temperatures make us want to run outside, but we’ll have to wait a little longer for a picnic by the Han River. Instead, why not enjoy the view of the Han River from the comfort of a cozy indoor spot? Check out these 10 cafes with Han River views here. For all you Starbuck lovers out there, we’ve also got a list of Starbucks with Han River views. See the list here.
7. Take a History Tour for Samneul
We recommend the Seodaemun Prison History Museum for a historical tour on Samhain. It is a place where many independence activists died in prison during the Japanese occupation. The museum has vividly recreated torture scenes and a prison cell that gives you a glimpse into the life of the prisoners. For more information, check out the Seodaemun Prison History Museum.
