COEX is a place where you can easily get lost in the hustle and bustle, but keep coming back for visits again and again. More than a shopping mall, it’s a space that offers a different charm from the nearby Lotte Tower in Jamsil and its surroundings. More people and more attractions means there are so many things to do at COEX, so we’ve compiled a list of spaces that we think you should check out if you visit COEX.
1. COEX Aquarium
Undersea tunnels, sea kingdoms, and the largest shark habitat in Korea await you at COEX Aquarium. Upon entering, you’ll be greeted by an unexpected mix of young couples on dates and innocent families, exploring the exhibits or sitting in front of a large tank with over 40 sharks frolicking freely. It’s an aquatic heaven that we’d definitely recommend visiting; you can find COEX Aquarium tickets here.
2. Plantude
Be healthy, but make it insanely delicious. Plantude is a vegan restaurant where all the waiting time is forgiven the moment you overcome the wait and eat the gamtae cream tteokbokki. It’s a brand run by plant-based specialists Pulmuone, and all the research done by their big-name PhDs has paid off at this delicious spot. It is located diagonally across from Youngpoong Bookstore, next to Godiva. See it on the map here.
3. Starfield Library
What if you get lost while looking for a friend at COEX? Meet them at Starfield Library, which you’ll know from social media for its futuristic design and walls of bookshelves. At COEX, all roads lead to Starfield Library, which isn’t just a place to study; it’s a place to settle in and read a book, take a class, or enjoy a celebrity guest lecture. 4. Play in the Box
This is a new character merchandise shop that opened in December 2023. At Play in the Box, you can meet characters such as Sanrio, Crayon Shin-chan, RECORDER Factory, and explore plenty of merchandise. There’s also a unique photo booth where you pose inside a washing machine, and plenty of cabinets to peruse. You’ll find it front of Megabox COEX.
5. Globe Bistro
If you want to visit an Italian restaurant in COEX, head to Globe Bistro. A place with a rare vintage interior that catches the eye, it’s a great place for coffee during the day and wine in the evening. Classic lasagna is a popular menu item we’d recommend. Find it near the entrance to Parnas Mall.
