Kim Soo-cheol, Sound Painting

The name ‘Kim Soo-cheol’ might feel somewhat unfamiliar as an artist. Yet he is a figure who left a deep mark on Korean contemporary music history as the music director forthe 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup opening ceremonies .
The paintings he unveils this time are works accumulated over nearly half a century, being publicly displayed for the first time. Moments where music becomes color, and rhythm becomes line.
How does sound become color? How far can the boundaries of artistic genres dissolve? Kim Soo-chul’s answers to these questions can be found on the canvas.
