There was a time when it was fashionable to say you were driving a BMW. Bus, Metro and Walk. The subway is the one I use the most. I’ve been riding the subway for 1X years, but I’m still confused by the fact that some subway stations are not far apart, but there are some that are on different routes, which makes transferring more cumbersome. I’ve collected stations where the distance between the two stations is around 500 meters (according to Naver map), so it’s easy to walk on foot.
1. Sinnonhyeon Station – Gangnam Station
Sinnonhyeon Station, which is served by the 9 Line and the Sindang Line, and Gangnam Station, which is served by the 2 Line and the Sindang Line, are only one stop apart by bus. On foot, it takes about 5 minutes at the earliest and 10 minutes at the latest. During rush hour, it can take over 10 minutes by bus. Walking is faster.
2. Bongunsa Station – Samseong Station
Bonggeunsa Station on Line 9 and Samseong Station on Line 2 are also about 3 minutes from each other by train, but walking can be a good option if you consider the time it takes to get to the transfer station and the train schedule. The two stations are about 500 meters apart and the average walking time is about 8 minutes.
3. From Jonggak Station to Gwanghwamun Station, Anguk Station, and Euljiro Entrance
The area, which includes Deoksugung Palace, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and Jongmyo, is served by many different subway lines, but it’s actually very accessible, as it’s all within walking distance of each other.
Gwanghwamun Station on Line 5 and Jonggak Station on Line 1 are located less than 500 meters apart, but due to their different lines and large stations, it takes more time to transfer between them. Therefore, if these two stations are your final destination or in the vicinity, you should choose either Gwanghwamun Station or Jonggak Station depending on your destination, and transferring between the two stations is not recommended.
Jonggak Station on Line 1 and Anguk Station on Line 3 are also about 600 meters apart and can be reached on foot in about 10 minutes, but if you want to take the subway between them, you’ll need to transfer two stations from Jongno 3-ga Station on Line 1 to Anguk Station on Line 3.
The same goes for Jonggak Station on Line 1 and Euljiro Station on Line 2. The distance between these two stations is only 385 meters, which is a five-minute walk, but since they are on different lines, it takes about 10 minutes to get there by subway without taking into account the transfer time.
4. Banpo Station – Jamwon Station
Banpo Station on Line 7 and Jamwon Station on Line 3 are about 10 minutes away on foot, but it takes longer to get to the subway because you have to go through the Express Terminal Station.
5. Samyang Station – Mia Station
Samyang Station on the Wuyishin Line and Mia Station on Line 4 are not far apart, about 890 meters and a 13-minute walk, but they are on different routes, making it difficult to transfer by train. It can only be reached by village bus, but if you consider the time, walking is recommended.
6. Garak Market Station – Police Hospital Station
Garak Market Station, where Line 3 and Line 8 pass, and Police Hospital Station on Line 3 are 475 meters in a straight line and take about 7 minutes to walk. If you’re coming from Line 8 rather than Line 3, it’s not too far to walk without changing lines.
7. Sinjeong Station – Sinjeongnegeori Station
They are close enough to be considered one neighborhood, but Shinjeong Station is served by Line 5 and Shinjeongnegori is served by Line 2. If you live in this neighborhood, it’s convenient because you can choose either line depending on your destination. The distance between the two stations is about 630 meters, which takes about 10 minutes on foot.
8. Aehyeon Station – Aogae Station
The distance between Aehyeon Station on Line 2 and Aeogae Station on Line 5 is 490 meters, which is less than 500 meters, and it takes about 7 minutes on foot. However, the subway is not as efficient as walking because you have to go through Chungjeongno Station.
