Beginning in 1954 as the “National Book Exhibition,” this event has connected readers and publishers for nearly 70 years. It has since grown into a global book fair representing Asia and a venue for cultural exchange that introduces Korean culture to the world.
This year, under the theme “Homo duduri: A Declaration of Humanity,” the festival will showcase diverse publishing cultures from around the world, including guest country France. With a rich lineup ranging from new releases by major publishers to independent publications and art books, as well as author book talks and seminars, the festival is set to fill the end of June with the deep inspiration of the written word.
Pompidou Center Hanwha Opening Exhibition
A massive cultural and arts project that domestic art fans have been eagerly awaiting for years is finally being unveiled.
The ‘Pompidou Center Hanwha,’ the Asian hub of the world-renowned Pompidou Center in France, will officially openon June 4 at the 63 Building in Yeouidoafter a long wait.
Transformed into a massive work of art by French architectural master Jean-Michel Wilmotte, this venue marks its historic opening with the exhibition “Cubists: Innovators of Vision,” showcasing masterpieces by Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, and other great artists. This is a rare opportunity to see 12 works by Picasso, along with approximately 90 pieces from the Centre Pompidou’s world-renowned collection of modern and contemporary art—many of which have never been shown in Korea before—all in one place.
