What Happens When Impressionism Meets Photography? Groundsisso, a trusted exhibition curator, introduces Jonathan Bertin, a young artistwho captures the movement of light as he opens up new spaces in Guui.
Jonathan Bertin, a photographer from Normandy, France, pays tribute to Impressionist painting through photography. He is interested in the fluidity of the image, just as the Impressionists discovered the shifting colors of light. By paying attention to the movement and story of his subjects, Jonathan Bertin liberates the moment. His photography is therefore a journey to recapture the essence of the moment.
Jonathan Bertin’s journey began with a two-year trip around the world, where he was inspired by the landscapes and light of the world to create his iconic Impressionism series. The exhibition traces the artist’s time, from his early works to the Impressionist series. Jonathan Bertin’s images are full of everyday, poetic moments, especially what he calls the ultra-ordinary. He frames the nature he encountered during his travels, the vibrant neon lights and sculptures of his native Normandy.
Impressionism: The Magic of Light and Color presents more than 100 works by Jonathan Bertin. A documentary on the artist’s process and a recreation of his home provide a glimpse into his philosophy.
The exhibition also includes his photography book Impressionism, which was released last year to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Impressionist painting. More than 1,000 copies of Impressionism were sold within two months of its release, and a limited edition of the same size as the works on display is available for purchase.
