The campus of Ewha Womans University is transforming into a vast venue for media art.
The15th annual international media art festival, “EMAP 2026 (Ewha Media Art Presentation),” is being held across the campus until this Sunday, May 16 .
Launched in 2001 to mark media art master Nam June Paik’s tenure as a distinguished professor at Ewha Womans University, this festival returns this year with even more profound themes to engage audiences, coinciding with the historic milestones of Ewha’s 140th anniversary and the 20th anniversary of Nam June Paik’s passing.
The key themes of this exhibition arethe “climate crisis” andthe “sense of water.”
From the main exhibition, <Ten Million Bamboo: Time of Climate>, and the special exhibition <Nam June Paik, Ecologist of the Videosphere>, which offers a glimpse into Paik’s philosophy, to over 20 high-quality works created by 40 teams from 17 countries around the world,
Artworks that will be gone forever if you miss this week fill every corner of the campus.
Installed throughout the campus—including ECC Valley, a landmark of Ewha Womans University, as well as the historic Main Building and Central Auditorium—these works create a unique spectacle where modern architecture and antique stone buildings blend seamlessly with media art.
The real charm of EMAP begins after the sun goes down! At 7:30 p.m., Ewha Womans University’s landmark ECC Valley and Main Building transform into giant screens.
This exhibition runs for just one week, until May 16, and best of all, it’sfree for everyone to enjoy.
