Starting April 1st, ‘Culture Day’ will be expanded to every Wednesday.
The benefit, previously available only on the last Wednesday of each month, can now be enjoyed every Wednesday throughout the entire month.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced these details at a Cabinet meeting on the 3rd. The aim is to make it easier for people to access and enjoy culture in their daily lives.
Perhaps the most noticeable change is the movie discount. The benefit of watching movies for 7,000 won, as before, will be offered every Wednesday starting in April.
Major cultural facilities like national and public museums, art galleries, and performance venues will also expand free or specially curated programs centered around Wednesdays. Some local governments are preparing exhibitions, performances, and experiential programs highlighting their region’s unique cultural assets. This promises to be an opportunity to rediscover culture and history in our familiar neighborhoods.
