A chemical plant that led the revival of the Gajwa-dong Industrial Complex in Incheon. The factories, which once spanned 45 buildings in the 1970s, were all demolished by 2016, leaving only a single building standing. Of those 45 factories, the 40th building—the only one that remained—has now been transformed into Cosmo 40, a large café and multi-purpose cultural space in Gajwa-dong.
A candlelight concert is being held at Cosmo 40. The news of a classical concert taking place in a former factory is generating great anticipation among audiences.

There have been many attempts to transform abandoned factories into cafes or mixed-use cultural spaces. Cosmo 40 minimized new construction and designed the old and new wings to connect like a single ring. By connecting the new wing to the old building—a former chemical plant—it breathes new life into the historic space.
The third floor features the Cosmo Lounge, a large café-style space, while the first and second floors—which form a void with a high, open ceiling—and the curtain room on the fourth floor are configured as cultural spaces capable of hosting exhibitions and performances. As you look at Cosmo 40, where each floor offers a different view, you can’t help but imagine the various pieces of machinery that once filled this space, all running at full speed.

You can enjoy the ever-beloved music of Studio Ghibli at the Candlelight Hisaishi Joe program.
The “Candlelight Joe Hisaishi” program features the music of Joe Hisaishi, who composed the scores for all of director Hayao Miyazaki’s animated films. From the main soundtrack of *My Neighbor Totoro* to *Howl’s Moving Castle* and *Spirited Away*, you can experience these classic pieces—songs whose melodies alone evoke vivid images from the films—in a classical arrangement.
