Ahead of the BTS concert, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the National Police Agency were on high alert for crowd management.
This was because there had been speculation that approximately 260,000 to 300,000 peoplemight gather due to the immense influence of BTS’s fanbase, and because the trauma from past incidents involving large crowds still lingers. Under the principle of never again responding complacently to crowd congestion, authorities deployed over 10,000 public personnel to the site.
However, the actual number of people was much lower than expected.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s crowd management system, approximately 62,000mobile users were connected at the venue during the performance.
The organizer, HYBE, estimated the crowd to be larger, at approximately 104,000 people.
Although the event was prepared amid concerns that a massive crowd would gather, the level of congestion feared did not materialize.
