The massive exterior wall of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul will illuminate the autumn night. The world’s largest non-linear media art festival, <Seoul Light DDP 2026 Fall>, will kick off on September 3, 2026.
An art festival unfolding on a massive 222-meter-long facade, listed in the Guinness World Records. Don’t miss it over the next 11 days!
DAYBREAKER & K-ORIGINAL LIGHT
Held under the 2026 annual theme “DAYBREAKER” (one who breaks through the darkness and ushers in new light), this fall festival takes “K-Original Light” as its theme. While the prefix “K-” often brings to mind only contemporary viral phenomena like K-pop and K-food, this festival goes beyond popular culture to showcase works that reinterpret Korea’s masters of contemporary art and traditional cultural heritage through light.
《The Break Point》 (Nam June Paik × Birthday): Media art inspired by Nam June Paik’s video synthesizer and combined with a live performance (facade: 7 minutes / live performance: 40 minutes)
《In Search of the Mountain Within Me》 (Yoo Young-kook × Kwon Ha-yoon): Yoo Young-kook’s mountains and colors—with their sculptural vitality—are expanded and realized through the rhythm of light (facade: 6 minutes)
《A Night When Words Shine》 (Cheonggu Yeong’eon × Two Gray): The lyrics from the sijo anthology *Cheonggu Yeong’eon*, housed in the National Hangeul Museum’s collection, are reimagined through light and digital patterns (facade projection: 4 minutes)
《Light of the Future, Passing Through the Echoes of Time》 (DDP 365 Light × Yoon Je-ho): A spectacular debut work utilizing lasers and lighting (Facade and Laser Art: 10 minutes)
Plus, a live DJ concert adds to the festive atmosphere!
Operating hours and schedule for the nightly performances
- Event Dates: September 3 (Thu) – September 13 (Sun), 2026; 11 days in total

- Key Performance Schedule:
Beyond the DDP to the Dongdaemun Shopping District: The “K-Food Zone” and the “DDP × Dongdaemun Super Pass”
This year, the event goes beyond just viewing exhibits inside the DDP, with a variety of side events taking place simultaneously that are organically connected to the Dongdaemun commercial district.
- K-Food Zone and Delivery Service: F&B booths offering Korean street food, sausages, coffee, and more will be set up in the outdoor Palgeori area of the DDP. Through partnerships with delivery apps and a pickup zone, visitors can conveniently enjoy not only on-site menu items but also takeout and delivery options from popular restaurants in the nearby Dongdaemun alleys.
- “DDP × Dongdaemun Super Pass” Benefits: This discount platform curates approximately 140 must-visit stores in nearby MZ-generation hotspots—such as Sindang-dong, Jangchung-dong (the “second Seongsu-dong”), and Gwanghui-dong (“Hiphui-dong”)—into six themed itineraries. You can enjoy exclusive discounts and freebies at participating stores (Baeksong, Becaron Bagel, Niki, Star Samarkand, etc.).
Furthermore, starting in the second half of the year after the festival concludes, “DDP 365 Light”—which utilizes the DDP’s architectural space—is scheduled to expand from a pilot program to regular screenings, positioning the DDP as Seoul’s premier nighttime landmark where visitors can enjoy a light-filled nightscape whenever they visit. This fall, head to Dongdaemun to experience the perfect blend of light, music, and culinary delights.
